Attempt

So I thought I was going to take pictures today, but I had a family birthday all day and didn’t have the time. I did have my dad buy my ingredients. He went to publix and picked up a lot of strawberries and bananas to make the açaí bowl and put on top. He got a jar of honey and some almonds as well. He started to cut up my bananas and strawberries because he knows how to make them look pretty. If I tried to cut them it would look unappetizing. I’m going to try and start my pictures this week and hopefully they’ll come out good. Also, I need to start writing my double page spread. Talk to you later.

Cover Idea

Had a little trouble logging into my blog account recently, but I am back.  I have finally decided on my cover page that I was going to put a picture of an açaí bowl with fruit around it taking the picture  outside. I thought it was a good choice because açaí bowls are healthy, but they taste really good so people don’t have to eat something nasty to be healthy. I’m going to start getting my supplies and take pictures next week because it’s spring break. It is perfect timing because I don’t have school so I have plenty of time to work on it and it’s sunny out everyday so I can take my pictures whenever I want. I have to look up recipes first to see what type of açaí bowl I am going to make. So far I’m thinking of doing strawberry and banana because that is the most common one and everyone likes it. On the top i’ll put strawberries, bananas, blueberries, and honey. Tomorrow i am going to buy the food and start thinking of a layout. I haven’t had much time lately because I’ve been out of

New ideas

It's been a little bit, but I'm back. After awhile I've finally decided on what my double page spread is going to be about. I was literally laying in bed at 12 in the morning and the idea and title just came to me. I realized I needed something that would attract a large audience and because mine is about being healthy and working out, aiming towards women would be the best choice. I narrowed it down to attracting high school and college girls. The title I decided on was "Stressed out? Work it out!". This title just came to me when I was laying in bed and it stuck. It rhymes and is really catchy so people will be attracted to it. It will especially attract high school and college girls because they are the ones who stress the most. Trying to cope with school, extra curriculars, working out, and a job. This will help them be able to fit in a quick and successful workout while still being able to have time for everything else. My double page spread will include an

Barcode

Image
Learned something new today. I learned how to create an original barcode and paste onto my magazine. i had to ask Kayla for help because she already did hers and I didn't know how to do it. She told me to look up "Original barcode generator" and click on the second website that showed up (https://barcode.tec-it.com/en). I was so lost on the website Kayla had to walk me through the whole thing. On the right hand side of the magazine there were different barcode options to choose from and i chose "GS1 DataBar". I never knew how many barcode options there were, but I was overwhelmed. There were so many GS1 options and I kept going until I found "GS1-DataBar Limited". It generated the barcode and gave me the option to type my own number for the barcode. I kept it how it was because I didn't want to mess anything up. I saved the barcode to my computer and went back onto Joomag and pasted it. I moved it around and played with it until I got the size and

Layout

Image
I'm back and still empty handed. I don't have pictures or ideas for my double page spread, but I was able to create my magazine layout. This is juts a first draft and I will probably end up changing it up a little bit, but at least now I have a basic idea. My cover lines on the front cover of magazine might still,  but I'm still deciding whether I like them or not. Also, where they are placed isn't going to stay the same. It will look better when I do it on the computer where I can center it and movie it around, writing it was a little difficult to make it pretty. I mean I don't really have an artistic hand. Just wanted to show you guys what I was imaging. Talk to you later.

Feedback

So I'm back and I haven't gotten much done. I have ideas of the things I want to do like the pictures I showed in one of my latest blog posts, but I haven't decided what I want as my cover image and the story for my double page spread. That's why my class spent time today to get in groups and give feedback to one another on how all our projects are going, whether they're good or bad, and help us make decisions were indecisive about. I sat with two girls from my class that are also doing a magazine. One was doing a travel magazine and the other was doing a recipe magazine. It helped me a lot to have someone doing a recipe magazine in my group because it is similar to my genre of my magazine and we can compare each others stuff. We were able to give ideas to each other that neither of us thought of before and opened our eyes a little bit to new ideas and how to make it better. I didn't have much to show the group because I haven't started my magazine. The on

Ideas

So I am still not able to log into Joomag. It's getting really annoying at this point. Every time I go on the website I can't seem to find the button to create a magazine. The only options it gives me when I go on is to read and subscribe to other magazines. I started using the website Canvaa because it was easy for me to make an account and start my magazine, but it didn't offer me the same variety of options Joomag did. I ran into a situation  because my other two group members were able to access Joomag and the options they offer, Canvaa didn't have the same options as them and our magazines wouldn't be the same, so I had to figure out how to get on Joomag or we would have to use Canvaa. Kayla took my computer in class and tried to get me onto Joomag. I have probably logged on and off that website 100 times already and nothing works.  After like half an hour of trying to get me logged in, Kayla asked me if my teacher sent the access code to Joomag to anot

Website

I’m back. My computer got a virus as I was doing the layout to my magazine and my mom had to take it to work to have one of her employees fix it. I’m not going to be able to get my computer until tomorrow so I couldn’t work on my layout. I tried logging in from my phone, but it just doesn’t work the same as it does on my computer. It’s hard to navigate through the website and move things around, so I decided to wait until I get my computer back. I realized this is going to be a set back to creating my magazine, but I’ll just have to work double next week on my magazine. I’ll update you guys more when I can get my computer back.

Issues

Got together with my group today and we discussed on our title ideas. Paulina wanted to change our title to "Foodism", but Kayla and I told her that it wouldn't go with our fitness ideas, juts food ideas. So we stayed with "Healthy Alert". We got absolutely nowhere with the font and size of the title. However, the letters will be all capital and the color of our choosing based on our issue of the magazine. Each of us started to look up pictures to get inspirations for our magazines. Kayla was looking up Thanksgiving ideas and Paulina was looking up Christmas ideas. Paulina did find this one super cute picture of hot chocolate with a snowman made out of marsh mellows in it. I thought it was super cute. I started brainstorming my own ideas for the summer issue. That's when I thought of something great. I thought of doing 4 Fourth of July tricks to having a healthy holiday and showing steps to easy yoga poses on the beach. One idea that I just thought of out

Research

So today I was going to do some research for my magazine, but I got home so tired and just was not in the mood at all to work. Although, I did figure out the basics of my magazine. The genre is a healthy lifestyle and the target audience is mostly women around the ages 20 to 50. I am trying to find the most popular summer foods that are healthy and easy to make at home and also some easy fitness tips that can be done at home like ab workouts. I was thinking of doing steps to an at home workout and maybe yoga on the beach. When I am in class tomorrow I'm going to start looking up ideas and pictures to inspire me some more. Talk to guys tomorrow.

Inspirations

Today I met with my group in class again. We discussed further on the ideas for our magazine, such as, the layout, where we want the title, title font and color, and more. Halfway through our discussion we realized that our title "Healthy Eats" didn't really fit our magazine theme. Since we wanted to include fitness tips and ideas we decided to change our title from "Healthy Eats" to "Healthy Alert". Paulina came up with this title. We havent't decided on the font color or size yet, but we have decided that we are going to make the title a large size at the center top of the page. Our picture will be in the middle of the front cover under the title with just a few cover lines on the side. We started looking at other magazine examples to get inspired and one issue of "bon appétit" called "Sunday Suppers" caught my eye. The picture of the food look so appealing it made me hungry and it was so simple with no cover lines. It got me
